Eco-Couture in Toronto
After faithfully carting around cloth bags, recycling and composting, getting my news online, and reducing my daily energy consumption where possible, the last spot left in my home needing a green makeover is my closet. I know just where to head for inspiration: Toronto's second annual Fashion Takes Action gala this Saturday at the Distillery District's Fermenting Cellar. Eat & Drink
Toronto Launch of Vegan a Go-Go
I admire veganism. I even sometimes aspire to veganism, but just can't comprehend giving up two of my favourite things in life: cheese and chocolate. (Not necessarily in that order. Or together.) However, with the launch of Sarah Kramer's new cookbook, Vegan a Go-Go, I just might have new motivation to make the switch. Environment
Waste Reduction Week in Toronto
Though I'm in waist-reduction mode after my green Thanksgiving feast, I should be focusing on the other kind of waste in consideration of Waste Reduction Week in Canada. Several Toronto businesses are set up to help residents dispose of old electronic and computer equipment with the environment in mind. Environment
The Hour's One Million Acts of Green
I recycle. I bring my own bag. I light my apartment with CFLs. I try to eat local, and I'm vegetarian (most of the time). And I was thrilled when I heard George Stroumboulopoulos announce that he will officially launch of The Hour's "One Million Acts of Green" (OMAOG) campaign this Tuesday. The OMAOG movement is welcome news after the disappointment of last week's election results. Now that we've re-appointed a government whose policies represent a significant threat to environmental issues, our individual efforts are even more crucial in making our community a little - or a lot - greener.

Toronto Green Community's World Food Day Fundraiser
I'm going to celebrate World Food Day on Thursday by carefully considering what to eat for dinner. And lunch. And breakfast. The Toronto Green Community (TGC) hopes you do, too, and is hosting slow food guru Jamie Kennedy as keynote speaker at its annual Fall Harvest Fundraiser.Showcasing great food, music and an eco-silent auction, the TGC hopes to raise money to support its programming and cultivate awareness about the importance of locally grown, organic food to sustainable communities.

Toronto Walks: Ghosts, Gastronomes, and Scavenger Hunts
In my five years without a car in Toronto, I've learned that most of the city is not only pedestrian-friendly, but more interesting on foot. And Mayor Miller agrees: For the month of October, the City of Toronto is hosting a walking festival, which includes Halloween-themed jaunts, foodie and nature walks, and a Live Green Toronto scavenger hunt. From Nuit Blanche - when most of us walked in pursuit of art - to Halloween, October is the perfect month to walk Toronto.
