A Gigantic Plastic Bovine for Theatre Passe Muraille's 40th

At noon today, in honor of turning 40 and to welcome home The Drawer Boy, Theatre Pass Muraille raised-the-roof and inflated a two-story-high cow.

I'm ashamed to say I've never seen Michael Healy's award winning The Drawer Boy, but I'm not one to pass-up the opportunity to take photos of a giant bovine in the downtown core.

Censorship at the York U Bookstore

Apparently York University has an issue with the penis, especially if it's crocheted and pierced.

Just 7 days after stef lenk and Shannon Gerard's Playing Doctor was installed in the front window of the York University Bookstore; the higher-ups at University demanded it be removed. The reason? Some nameless professor who lives on the campus found it offensive and was afraid his son might see it.

Big Fibre Little Fibre

Big Fibre Little Fibre quashes the idea that fibre art is always tiny and delicate. This year it's colossal, it's unrestrained and there's even a horse constructed of foam and 1.4 million individually knotted hairs.

It was all motivated by a "Gee, it's so big!" at last years show. So this year the curators decided to take on the concept of size in the 2nd Annual Juried Textile Exhibition at the Gladstone Hotel. The show is all about what is big and what is small.

Matt Crookshank at Le Gallery

On Friday night Matt Crookshank's Lick the Frost of the Dream, his second solo show of paintings opened at Le Gallery. It was a swanky affair of delicious treats, import beer and gorgeous digital art.

In big blockbuster movies you always see outstanding futuristic art on the den wall of the villains' home to illustrate their intellect and obsession for control in/of the future. Crookshank's latest series 'Turbulence,' is the kind of art you could see hanging there.

Toronto Demands Change In Burma

It was incredible. From the Chinese consulate on St George to Queens Park, the streets were owned by the 'Free Burma' movement last night.

The demonstration was part of the Global March for the People of Burma, a protest held in concert around the world in support of Burma's monks, many of whom have been arrested, tortured and/or disappeared since the brutal military crackdown last month.

Now You Can Register Your Bike Online!

Toronto Police Services have finally gotten with the 21st century and launched an online bike registry to help stolen and lost bicycles find their way home.

Over 4,000 bikes are stolen in the city every year. Of the 900 plus bikes turned over to police, less than 5% are reunited with their rightful owners because they weren't registered and end up on the auction block or on ebay.
