Thanksgiving Toronto 2010Saturday

PARTY | Last Shake a Tail
Don't let the title scare you too much -- this will be the last Shake a Tail at Clinton's for a while, but not forever. The weekly 60's pop and soul dance party will be moving to a new home at Sneaky Dees,. I'm not sure why, but does it really matter? It should still be the same great party. You'd be wise to come and help them say goodbye to Clinton's, though, I'm sure it will be nuts!
Clinton's Tavern, 693 Bloor St W, $5, 10pm

MUSIC | King Khan & The Shrines
One good thing came from The King Khan and BBQ Show's split -- the return of The Shrines! Much more of a 'show' than the BBQ Show, King Khan & The Shrines is usually a seven piece with saxophones, trombones and organs. They sometimes go by the name The Supreme Genius of King Khan and His Sensational Shrines and after seeing their live show, you'll know why. Gentlemen Jesse & His Men start things off.

Toronto EventsMUSIC | SCION Launch w/ LA Riots & Treasure Fingers
The only thing better than a show with an amazing line up is a free show with an amazing line up. SCION is launching in Canada and bringing LA Riots, Treasure Fingers and Classix to celebrate -- and it's absolutely free as long as you RSVP here. It doesn't guarantee entry though so I have a feeling if you want to be there, you better get your ass there early.

Apples Toronto autumnFILM | Greed w/ Do Make Say Think
Most people aren't particularly interested in going to see silent movies because they're generally boring. But, there's always exceptions -- like when local post-rock group Do Make Say Think scores the film live. Last summer the band, along with Owen Pallett, scored the silent film Tales of the Uncanny and it was fantastic, so I have reason to believe this will be too. Plus you if you haven't checked out the TIFF Bell Lightbox yet, it's about time!

blogTO radarSPORTS | DC Tour In-Store Signing/BBQ
A big group of skateboarders who I've never heard of because I can hardly stand on a skateboard let alone ride one, are on tour with DC shoes across the east coast and stopping in on Toronto tonight. Nick Dompierre, Marquise Henry, Sasha Daley, Josh Clark... right any bells? The only skater I know is Tony Hawk because I was a poser in public school and played Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. Well these skaters plus more will be doing a demo at Ashbridge's Bay then swinging by the Baitshop for an in-store signing and BBQ. NOTE: Tony Hawk will NOT be there!

Toronto sunriseBOOKS & LIT | This is Not a Reading Series w/ Jacob Wren
In their tradition of having readings that are totally unlike any others out there, or even ones in their series, the This is Not a Reading Series is back again with a book by Jacob Wren. Revenge Fantasies of the Politically Dispossessed is his new work and instead of a traditional interview, he's trying something different. He has assembled a group of people to do a 'relay interview' where each person answers a question before asking the next person a question. I don't really get it, but we'll see. If that doesn't sound like or thing -- or if it's a little to late for reading -- David Miller is also reading from Witness to a City at the Gladstone Hotel. Doors for Miller's reading are 5:30, with a $5 cover charge.
The Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen St W, $5, 9:30pm
