The Clothing Show Contest

Clothing Show - 07.JPG
Forget wandering through the streets for hours without ever finding what you are looking for! I love The Clothing Show because there are great deals, vintage finds, mainstream brands, and cool Toronto designers like Beata Dirycz, whose polka dot dress is pictured here.

The Clothing Show will be May 5 & 6 at the Automotive Building at Exhibition Place. Tickets are $8.00 in advance, $10.00 at the door, and FREE if you win our contest. To win a pair of tickets, be one of the first ten people to comment on what cool new duds you need to buy for summer.

2 Days 'Til The Holidays: The Sewing Studio

The Sewing Studio has crafty classes in their stylish studio located at Bloor and Jarvis in Toronto. With beginner, intermediate, drop-in and feature workshops it is a great gift to give or take with a friend or family member. Sew what? The next feature workshop is on home décor so we can finally add our own stylish edge to our homes. Spread some holiday cheer with this special workshop on January 14th between 1:00pm and 4:00pm for only $50. Register by sending The Sewing Studio an email.

3 Days 'Til The Holidays: Fairies & Cowboys

I love buying gifts for my nieces and nephews. Toronto designer Melody Cebula makes it so easy with her darling line for the little ones called Fairies & Cowboys. With comfortable cuts we can dress our own little fairies in jumper dresses made in gray tones accented with a plaid print up the front button seam and half-moon pockets on the front. Little cowboys will look just darling in a western vest with a white tee and blue pants with plaid print pockets.

Dressing the little ones to match their fairy tales has never been so easy. Pick up great gift garments by Fairies & Cowboys at Fresh Collective on Queen. Prices range from about $20 to $100. Picture taken from Fresh Collective.

4 Days 'Til The Holidays: SOOS

SOOS06.jpg
Why does SOOS so totally rock? This sassy, young, urban jewelry company became my favourite find a little over a year ago. It truly has a style for every gal with the bombshell bracelets, eldorado earrings, must-have scarves, organic wooden rings, silver city jewelry and the edgy rock and roll collection for the metallic mamma.

The bombshell bracelet is made from mixed metals with beautiful charms adoring your wrist. Whether you get the star-spangled bracelet (pictured), the bling chunky gold bangle, the silver bone earrings, or the charming and sweet heart and key melting heart bangle your gift will be a smashing success.

SOOS is the perfect gift for any style savvy fashionista. Regardless of her style, you will find something that is SOOS special. You can score these great pieces for approximately $24 to $60 at Frock, Girl Friday, Heidi Ho 2, It's Made, Made You Look, Propaganda, Over The Rainbow and many more stores. Full details are available on the SOOS website.

5 Days 'Til The Holidays: Oligarchy

Top your tree with the perfect tee. These silk-screened tees are a great gift for ladies and gents who like original prints, seamless sides and crave comfort. Oligarchy is by far my favourite Toronto-based t-shirt company because of the great fit, quirky prints, and all-around awesome look.

You will likely find the most unusual prints around like diamonds, handguns and stencils. The hand-dyed tee pictured has guns, diamonds and moneybags screen printed with silver paint splatters and slightly distressed sleeves for that rugged look.

These tees are about $40 each and are the perfect way to liven up the typical jeans and t-shirt look. Oligarchy's tees are at Alterego on Bloor, Omy and Iki in Kensington, Odyssey and Spy Lap on Queen, Propaganda on Yonge, Clandestino on Crawford, and at Paper-Doll.
