The blogTO Flickr Forum is a weekly sampling of themed photographs taken by Torontonians and aims to not only feature the talent they possess, but also spur dialogue and reveal the stories behind the images.

Today's collection of Toronto photographs is made up of responses to our call for photos that fit the theme "LUMINATO". These images were all recently submitted to the blogTO Flickr pool.

To the photographers: we'd love to hear about your photos. A little info on where it was taken and the story behind the photo is always a great start.

To the rest of you, feel free to ask questions to the artists, submit photos to the blogTO Flickr pool for next week's consideration, or just sit back and enjoy our weekly mosaic.

NXNE'08: Cancel Winter, Small Sins, The Mohawk Lodge

My show picks this year were mostly based on excellent recommendations from Pete Nema and Indie Music Filter, and of course a lot of myspace song sampling. Due to long lines and some torrential rain I was only able to check out 3 bands, but each of them was more impressive than the last.

Show impressions, and links to larger photos after the jump.

So apparently "square" was a bad idea for a theme due of the large number of photos with tags for Dundas Square or some other Toronto "square" in the city. Luckily we've got so many great Toronto photographers contributing to the blogTO Flickr pool that it never takes long to find enough great photos to feature.

TTC Down - Keele to Dundas West

20080529_ttc_590.jpg
At around 10:30pm, at Dundas West station, I got stuck on the platform - but I felt lucky that I wasn't stuck on the train (which had only its nose peaking through the tunnel's mouth).

Over the fuzzy loudspeaker, I heard "Unauthorized person on the tracks between Keele & Dundas West," and something about a power outage. Apparently they have to shut off the power if someone's on the tracks in order to avoid frying track-level intruders with kazillions of gigawatts of third-rail power.

I waited 20 minutes and all I saw were more and more TTC employees with flashlights heading towards Keele station from Dundas West station. There was a foul, burnt smell in the air, that really made me feel like it wasn't worth sticking around any longer. At that point I decided to give up on my TTC travel plans and head home.

I assume it's back up and running by now. Anyone know how this ended?
