Dragonette brings Bodyparts to the Danforth Music Hall
The Danforth Music Hall was nowhere near full on Friday night when Toronto's own pop 'n roll band Dragonette hit the stage. Luckily, those few who chose to brave the rain and miss the last period of Game 5 were ready to party. Although Dragonette's final Bodyparts tour is co-headlined by The Presets, I came to see the former, so if you're looking for a review of The Presets, you've come to the wrong place. Music
Classified sells out the Opera House...twice
Classified brought his East Coast flavour to Toronto this weekend and was more than well received. Playing two sold-out shows at The Opera House, Classified kept the energy high with a superb mix of tracks from as far back as 1996's What Happened and, of course, from his latest self-titled album, which was released in January. Sound issues sabotage k-os at the Danforth Music Hall
On Friday Night, the Danforth Music Hall beat out Sound Academy for the title of worst acoustic venue when k-os hit the stage to promote his latest release, a rock/hip hop album entitled BLack on BLonde. k-os has called the album a conversation, and for an artist whose fame spawns from intelligent rhymes, Friday night's muffled conversation was a lackluster strain to the ears. The Price Is Right comes (on down) to Toronto
Reaching the final shows of its eight-week-long tour, The Price Is Right Live! stage show popped up at Toronto's Sony Centre for the Performing Arts on Thursday and Friday night. The second show was added as an afterthought, after the first show sold out in under 15 minutes, proving that with or without Bob Barker (or Drew Carey), Torontonians are crazy about the 57-year-old game show. New LEGOLAND features stunning models of Toronto
The GTA is now home to the first Canadian LEGOLAND location. Found next to Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge in the sprawling Vaughan Mills Mall, it's hard to miss with its bright purple and yellow facade. Unlike the 100+ acre theme parks found in Florida and California, this LEGOLAND has been pegged an indoor Discovery Centre and spans a mere 34,000 square feet. That being said, the space still manages to house two small roller coasters, a 4D cinema, and an awfully cool miniature version of Toronto. Music
Flux Pavilion and his circus invade the Hoxton
Dubstep darling Flux Pavilion kept the kids up late Thursday night at the Hoxton with a superb -- if short -- setlist of highlights spanning across his young career. Roksonix — labelmates on Flux's brainchild Circus Records — got the dub party started, dropping the high-energy, bass-heavy beats identified with the genre. The crowd was already wild: there was the token crowdsurfing-girl-with-her-top-off who, regardless of freely showing off a very attractive rack, was no sooner dropped by fellow fans. I'm sure she brushed it off, had a drink, and got right back out on the dance floor.
