 Manifesto Made You LookLast night hundreds of Manifesto-goers celebrated the opening of the Made You Look Art Exhibition at 99 Sudbury Street, which featured the works of Paul Leli, internationally renowned illustrator and designer Dubelyoo (aka The Art Bishop), local woodgrain artist Eric Quebral, NYC-based hip hop photographer Ernie Paniccioli and more, as well as live DJs and musical performances from Sarah Linhares (MTL), The Extremities, Circle Research, DJ Fase and DJ Moonstarr.

M.I.A. stops by the Sound Academy tonight in support of her latest album /\/\/\Y/\ which features contributions from longtime collaborators Diplo and Switch, as well as Rusko, Derek Miller (Sleigh Bells, Poison the Well) and Blaqstarr. Opening up for M.I.A. is Baltimore rapper Rye Rye, who signed with M.I.A.'s record label N.E.E.T. after its formation in 2008. Tickets for the lower level are $40, while upstairs 19+ VIP access will set you back $75. Doors at 8pm.

Hardcore and punk rock take over the Opera house this Thursday night for Comeback Kid's return to Toronto. Joining the Winnipeg quintet are NYC legends Madball, Massachusetts hardcore act A Wilhelm Scream, Vancouver's Living With Lions and Portuguese group Devil In Me, whose latest LP The End was produced by Comeback Kid vocalist Andrew Neufeld.

Manifesto preview 2010Manifesto 2010 begins today, taking over the city for a week of diverse and exciting music and arts events that will culminate with a massive all-day celebration at Yonge-Dundas Square on Sunday.

Featuring b-boy competitions, art exhibitions and a short filmfest in addition to numerous live music performances, Manifesto 2010 brings together some of the biggest names in North American hip hop, including Jay Electronica, J. Period & Black Thought of the Roots, Bilal, Jean Grae, Saukrates, D-Sisive, Rich Kidd, Nomadic Massive, Tanika Charles, Kae Sun, Eternia, and many, many more.

Having released seven full-length albums in seven years, the Dirty Projectors are a musical force to be reckoned with. In addition to an extensive back catalogue, the Brooklyn-based experimental art rock collective have collaborated with some renowned musicians in the past couple of years, most notably Bjork and David Byrne. Led by the enigmatic Dave Longstreth, the Dirty Projectors line-up has changed drastically over the years, and at one point included Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend. Head to the Opera house tonight to check out Longstreth and the rest of the current Dirty Projectors after an opening set from Vermont group Happy Birthday.

Land of Talk's sophomore effort Cloak and Cipher was released just a few weeks ago to rave reviews, and they'll be showcasing their latest collection of songs at Lee's Palace on Thursday night. Fellow Montreal group Suuns (formerly known as Zeroes before a legal issue prompted a name change) are the lone opening act announced so far -- you can download their debut EP for free here, courtesy of their new label Secretly Canadian.
