TTC and Metrolinx reveal designs for Caledonia Station
The preliminary designs for Caledonia Station, an underground stop on the new Eglinton-Scarborough Crosstown LRT line, were presented last night at an open house held by the TTC and Metrolinx. The concepts drawings were mounted on white boards and placed throughout the room at the York Memorial Collegiate, which played host to local community members eager to determine what changes are in store for their neighbourhood. There were representatives on hand from the City of Toronto, the TTC, and the design teams to answer questions. Given the subways vs. LRT fiasco at City Hall, the one thing that residents wouldn't stop asking TTC Community Relations Team Leader David Nagler was whether or not the project was actually going to happen. While he acknowledged the skepticism, he was also quick to reassure everyone that the project is moving forward this summer (we can expect to see more obvious signs of construction as early as August).

Toronto through the lens of Rick Madonik
Rick Madonik has traveled the world and back as a photographer — shooting everything from conflict zones overseas to our local sports teams over the years. A photographer at The Toronto Star since 1999, he's had an eventful and compelling career. He highlights the 2010 Olympic games in Vancouver as one of most exciting times (after all, he was there to capture Sidney Crosby's reaction to the big goal). He's also received some well deserved recognition along the way, winning the George Gross Award for Outstanding photography. City
Occupy Toronto makes a comeback for May Day 2012
May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, brought out nearly 1,000 people in various protests and marches across the city yesterday, many of whom could be tied to the Occupy movement in some capacity or another. The events started at Queen's Park early in the day, eventually gaining its highest numbers at Nathan Phillips Square around 4 p.m., where a variety of groups had gathered. There were people from Occupy Toronto, the Filipino Canadian Workers Organization and even a group dedicated to environmental justice, Green Bloc. As was the case with Occupy, there was a general sense of dissent rather than a narrow focus on one cause.

Toronto through the lens of Chris Young
Looking through Chris Young's photoblog, it seems like he's had the opportunity to photograph just about anyone and everyone. From Toronto sports teams, to politicians, and celebrities. Not too bad for a guy who considered photography as a second career. He has worked for several newswires, magazines and corporations, yet he still finds time to shot recreationally. Young was born in England and spent years working outside of Toronto, but finds that there is a better work balance here. We caught up with him to find out more about how he started as a photographer and to see if he'd dish any dirt on the celebrities he's shot over the years
