Canadian Girls Gone Wild isn't just about flashing people your gazoongas. It's about showing your Canadian pride. By using the CN Tower as a backdrop for your tits.

Perhaps pouring maple syrup on them, while riding a moose.

If you're not aware already, there is a Canuck counterpart to the famed American version of the Girls Gone Wild DVD series that mainly involves a lot of drunk college girls flashing the camera and sometimes making out and fondling each other. Canadian Wild Girls, however, is "liberating" for young women, says one of the company's founders.

Porky's Showers the Bloor

I just got back from seeing the Canadian soft-porn-frat-house classic Porky's at the Bloor Cinema as part of its Porky's 25th anniversary marathon.

Yes, that's right. Including the count 'em - not one, but TWO - sequels up the big screen. I don't know who needs that much Porky's, but if that's you, tonight was your night. Now, Meatballs and its sequels on the other hand...

I first saw this flick about 7 years ago when I just turned 18, and that Kim Cattrall gym sock howling scene is every bit as good as the first time around. I laughed my ass off.

I Want Rhythm Says We'll Be Dancing In the Streets

The infamous Martha and the Vandellas song came to life along Bloor West today as I Want Rhythm organizer Nicole Stoffman dances with participant Trevor Homeniuk, both not afraid to swing to some Ella Fitzgerald outside H&M.

The fourth event is supposed to encourage people in stores to come dancing out on the sidewalk as a use of public space using the store's music. Some smiles after today's Santa Claus parade towards the brigade of four, toe-tapping along the strip, but also some raised eyebrows and confused faces.

If you can't stop dancing at home and have been practicing your best Fergie moves, or if you, like me, have two left feet, Stoffman encourages folks to come out to some of I Want Rhythm's next events held in the winter.

After all, snow boots against packing snow can make their own great music.

Zootango Waltzes With Rancho Relaxo

Last night, Zootango rocked out a packed house at Rancho Relaxo.

Singer-keyboardist Lloyd Frangis announces early on that "Things are about to get awkward here."

But, that was hardly the case as the fivesome, described as sounding like, on their Myspace page, like "Rod Torfulson's Armada featuring Herman Menderchuk," played smoothly their hearts out to alcohol-fued bodies dancing, drinking and dancing some more.

Not too much info on these guys, but they've got an EP out now and definitely worth a listen, especially if you admire a cross between MC5 and The Band. And anyone who can reference Kids in the Hall in that way wins in my books.

Dufferin Mall Gets Boothed

111406_dufferincourt.jpgOn my way from No Frills at Dufferin (Sufferin) Mall last night, I noticed the property ungoing renovations, has made its food court much swankier with some wooden booths instead of only the previous two and four-seater tables.

And I can tell the old Greek dudes who regularly gather about are looking at the change with cautinonary eyes.

Damn, I can't even call it the "ghetto mall" anymore -- even Gerrard Square is becoming more urban -- guess that label will have to be reserved for The Galleria.

Take the Tooker Brings Awareness to Pre-election Cycling Issues

111306_tooker.jpgAbout two dozen Take the Tooker cycling activists showed up at the northeast corner of Yonge and Bloor from 3 to 5 p.m. today to remind voters to choose candidates that advocate for bicycle rights, namely, a bike lane stretching from Kipling to Kennedy along Bloor Street.

Co-organizer Lana Choi hopes that with David Miller's and cycling committee chair Adam Giambrone's re-elections, the city will finally get into gear with continuing the Bike Plan and not be complacent.

Some fierce words from a guy who showed up (not affiliated with the group) and security guards from the nearby RBC building about where they can set up the demo -- About 20 ft. away from the building means it's public space, apparently -- but otherwise, a friendly meetup complete with dinging bells, colourful horns and, of course, stacks of bikes.

What's cool is that when even a temporary chalk-drawn bike lane is installed along a stretch of Bloor, motorists seemed to drive within the lines and cyclists had their own path. Maybe we can chalk it up in the meantime while waiting for a more permanent solution. Pray it don't rain.
