Toronto Festival of Beer is Hoppin'

Toronto Beer FestivalThursday's happy hour began at 4 p.m. this week to mark the beginning of this year's Toronto Festival of Beer. Running until Sunday at its new location in Exhibition Place, the festival hosts over 200 brands of beer from around Canada.

In no way do I consider myself a connoisseur when it comes to the art of tasting beer, so I did my best by wandering around and trying the brews I'd never heard of. Which, in all honesty, was most of them.

Canadian Voices Festival Ends up Being Wet but Wonderful

canadian voices festival torontoHarbourfront's (outdoor) Canadian Voices festival had some unlucky weather, but even though it was a wet and stormy weekend in Toronto, it didn't curb the enthusiasm of the artists and fans who braved the weather to attend the shows.

In all honesty, Saturday had me dreading the thought of leaving the warm comforts of my couch for the torrential downpour that was attempting to drown anyone unlucky enough to be stuck outside. So I dragged my feet as I packed my gear and prepped my poncho when, lo and behold, around five o'clock the sun peeked out from behind the clouds.

Mexican Festival was Beyond my Expectations

mexico beyond your expectationsI can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than at the Harbourfront's Mexico: Beyond Your Expectations festival watching a group of well-muscled men dressed in spandex toss each other around in a testosterone-filled ring.

New to Toronto's diverse lineup of summer festivals, Mexico: Beyond Your Expectations served as a cultural celebration and marked the upcoming anniversary of 200 years of Mexican independence.

One of the big crowd-pleasers of the festival was the lucha libre (Mexican free wrestling).
