Where to get Transylvanian wood platters in Toronto

Transylvanian wooden platterWhile the decor might not be much to look at, the real draw at this Bathurst and Lawrence restaurant is the Transylvanian wooden platters, which feature mounds of fried goodness, including veal wiener schnitzel, perogies, thick cut bacon, and pork sausage. If you any have room leftover, the other Hungarian classics on the menu are worthy of consuming, too.

Where to get Korean barbecue at Yonge & Finch

Koren BBQ TorontoHaving recently returned from a trip to Korea, my standards for what constitutes good barbecue have increased, so I was eager to see what this Yonge & Finch restaurant had to offer. Despite inattentive service and little bit of disappointment regarding the broken promise of its name, the results were actually quite satisfying.

A dim sum standout in Chinatown

Rol SanThis Chinatown dim sum joint might look pretty much the same as all the rest from the street, but the food tells another story. Solid service, made-to-order dishes, and modest prices have made this place a Sunday tradition for my family.

Former Black Hoofers bring the buzz to Parkdale

Parkdale MexicanOpened in the old Cafe Taste space, this bar/restaurant comes to life via ex Black Hoof Chef de Cuisine Colin Tooke and front-of-house Manager Ian McGrenaghan. It promises solid Mexican fare, old school hip hop, and one of the best bourbon selections in the city. Oh, and don't forget the line-ups.
