Design store on King East is among Toronto's best

Posted by James Buttivant / December 12, 2010

Klaus by NienkamperWith over 40 years of design experience, this high end furniture and design store at King East and Berkeley is still going strong. With the roots firmly planted in their multi-level showroom, they need not worry about Calligaris, Kiosk and other contemporary stores encroaching on their turf.

The Junction gets a cheese store

Posted by James Buttivant / December 8, 2010

Cheese store junctionAside from a No Frills and the hidden away International Cheese store, there's never been a whole lot of options in the Junction to satisfy a craving for some cheese. That changed this past August when the owners of Delight chocolate opened up the neighbourhood's first cheese shop.

Furniture shop unveils stunning new showroom

Posted by James Buttivant / December 5, 2010

High end furniture TorontoAfter shuttering its Dupont/Christie location earlier this year, this high end furniture store has opened a massive, eye-popping showroom near King and Berkeley. Informed by management that we weren't allowed to take photos (something about a two month blackout period agreed to with the architect), we resorted to stealing some shots through the windows. They don't do the store justice but they'll have to do (for now).

Posted by James Buttivant / November 28, 2010

Calligaris TorontoReaders of Dwell will likely recognize the name of this new furniture store that recently opened in a heritage bank building near King and Church. Its ads in the magazine suggest they decorate the most beautiful homes in the world and after a visit to the store it's a claim that's not too difficult to believe.

Where to find baked treats near Dundas and Kipling

Posted by James Buttivant / November 22, 2010

AF Home BakeryA couple of months ago we received an email from a reader named John A. who suggested we check out a new bakery that opened near Dundas West and Kipling. He told us it was a traditional European Bakery that makes fancy pastries, cakes as well as traditional breads and buns. "Prices are reasonable", he promised, and "quality is high."

So did my experience live up to the advance billing? Read my review of AF Home Bakery in the bakery section.
