Ladyfest: Toronto 2007Ladyfest has been going on for a few years now. For those of you support it and/or have attended the events over the last few years, it's more-than-fair to say that good times are usually had. Lauren Schreiber, who runs the recent and decent simple slew of shows called NO SHAME, is taking the Ladyfest helm this year and is also putting together Gentlemen's Fest: a benefit for Ladyfest - a fundraiser, if you will. It will be a two-night showcase of Toronto (and Guelph's) entertaining roster of bands. The schedule goes like so:

Japanther reigned the Mod Club stage, Daniel Johnson played to a sold-out crowd, a dance partied went long into the night at Sneaky Dee's, film/theatre/dance were new and successful additions, and above all, it was an enjoyable experience.

Over The Top vs. Over The Top?Cease-and-Desist cases have been mighty popular as of late. I might be exaggerating, but it's no lie that if you've had your ear to the ground within the local scene, you've known about acts being forced by the courts to change their names because of copyright infringement or just using the same name. Eric Warner's experimental noise-band, Dollarama, was told by the eastern Canadian shopping chain to cease-and-desist for using their name. Now, Warner is on the other side of the battle. However, this time, he's the one asking for someone to cease and desist. Who? The Canadian Football League.
