After 15 years, The Superior fades from Yonge Street

Superior Yonge St.The Superior Restaurant has been something of a fixture across from the Eaton Centre since the 1990s. But earlier this year it served its last meal and in its place a new Middle Eastern restaurant has just opened complete with one of the largest wood ovens I've ever seen.

Toronto has a new ramen destination

ramen torontoToronto is notorious for having bad ramen. Well, not necessarily bad ramen, but at least an underwhelming numbers of options of where to get it. There's Ajisen, Kenzo and a few other decent spots. And now we can add to that list a new destination that opened about a month ago in the J-Town complex in Markham.

Another izakaya opens on Church St.

izakaya,church,streetA new izakaya has opened on Church St. but this one isn't named Guu. Found a couple of blocks north in the heart of the village, this new restaurant serves up small plates of takoyaki, aburi sushi and plenty of beer and cocktails.

City Hall Korean foodThe inside might look like a kitschy French foodcourt at Canada's Wonderland but this recently re-branded Korean restaurant just steps from City Hall knows how to feed a lunch crowd. With 14 lunch sets to choose from the offerings can be hit and miss but there are at least a few gems here worth going back for.

Indian-inspired brunch now on Queen East

Frankly EateryQueen East isn't short on brunch destinations but now we have one more. Open since the Spring, this cozy family run restaurant has a decidedly Indian twist to their menu. Witness the egg bhurji (a spicy Indian style scramble with onions, peas and tomatoes) or the side of spicy homemade sausage with mango cilantro chutney.
