Joe Fresh at LG Fashion Week [Video and Photos]

Posted by Briony / October 21, 2010

Joe FreshJoe Fresh headlined day 3 at LG Fashion Week in Toronto. I'm usually a big fan of Joe's shows - the clothes are simple, fun, and accessible, and carry that bit of Mimran magic and budget-friendly flair. But last night? I just wasn't feeling it.

Backstage at Fashion Week

Posted by Briony / October 20, 2010

Backstage Fashion WeekYesterday's presentation of Line Knitwear was my favourite show so far at Fashion Week. Granted, we're only just into Day 3 so there's plenty still to come, but I give them high marks for original pieces like a perfectly clinging shredded poly-disco minidress in a rich salmon and a insouciant pair of wide-legged micro-dot-mesh leather gauchos. We've got video and backstage photos of the action.

Check out the video and all the photos of Line Knitwear in our special Toronto Fashion Week section.

Holt Renfrew ushers in LG Fashion Week

Posted by Briony / October 19, 2010

Holt Renfrew Fashion WeekThe latest version of LG Fashion Week began last night in Toronto. To some, it might have seemed that Fashion Week was already at its mid-point but last week's runway shows from the likes of Greta Constantine, Evan Biddell, NADA and more were all of the unofficial variety.

Check out the video and photos from last night's presentation from Holt Renfrew.

The Bay threw God Save the Queen the other night, a party in The Room to celebrate young, hot Brit-based talent, including Jonathan Saunders, Charlotte Olympia Dellal, Nicholas Kirkwood, Giles Deacon, and Marios Schwab, plus Canada's own Erdem Moralioglu and Mark Fast.

Has NADA just created the ultimate blue dress?

Posted by Briony / October 18, 2010

NADALet's start with those blue dresses, people. NADA was the final designer to show at the Brick Works last Thursday (see previous posts for Joeffer Coac and DIMITRICHRIS's collections), and she ended the show and her collection with a handful of drop-dead gorgeous royal-blue column dresses. They were some of my favourite pieces that I've seen on the Canadian runway in a long time - both elegant and eye-popping, and ever-so-memorable.

A Montreal designer's take on menswear

Posted by Briony / October 18, 2010

DIMITRICHRISWomenswear designers outnumber menswear designers in Canada by about a million to one, so it's always nice to see a new dedicated player on the scene during Fashion Week other than stalwarts Philip Sparks and Bustle.

DIMITRICHRIS was one of the three designers showing at the Brick Works this week (Joeffer Coac was one of the others), and his collection, while a little repetitious, was still a strong showing for the young Montreal designer.
