I brought along the toughest of critics (my parents) to the new Phoenix Restaurant location in Markham and satisfy my cravings for some classic Hong Kong style café fare.

Ceili Cottage has been all the rage among Toronto foodies for the past two weeks. Ever since this quaint new pub carved our of an old auto-garage opened in Leslieville, locals have been flocking to fill its prime front patio seats.

A nice place for a pint but the menu already needs some work. Does this look like your dream onion soup? Mine neither.

Negroni in Little Italy is an attempt to bring back fresh and delicious Italian to an area that's been slipping. Tempting starters, very affordable wines, and a wide variety of panini (like the pancetta, arugula, oven dried tomato, and lemon garlic mayo delight) make it worth a visit.

Cafe Polonez has been a long-standing Roncesvalles institution. In an area of the city that continues to go through constant change, the eatery remains a destination - mainly because they serve excellent Polish specialties (such as pierogi) that even the most discerning Babcia would appreciate!

La Paloma has a long-standing reputation for selling some of the best gelato in Toronto. The right balance of creaminess and authentic flavour, and a wide variety of classic favourites have kept people coming back to the Corso Italia area gelateria for over 40 years.

There has been a certain buzz around Le Paradis for years. 23 years to be exact. I set out this week to taste the bargain bistro fare at this legendary boîte on sleepy Bedford street in the Annex.
