Can Ukrainian and Korean Cuisine Co-Exist on One Plate?

Posted by Beverly Cheng / October 9, 2009

Helena's Magic KitchenLocated in the Village by the Grange food court, Helena's Magic Kitchen adds a distinctive Korean twist to classic Ukrainian recipes. Quiches are light, fluffy and have the smooth consistency of silken tofu, while their rainbow of daily salads leaves me wanting to come back for seconds.

The Annex's T-Cafe Confuses with Tea, Tapas and, uh, Sweet, Sticky BBQ Back Ribs?

Posted by Beverly Cheng / October 6, 2009

t cafe toronto annexA while back T Cafe in the Annex took over the space that Dooney's used to occupy. They offer an international assortment of teas and tea-infused foods including a changing tapas menu, baked goods, samosas and pub grub. It's a little confusing and got me thinking that this prime corner spot has something of an identity crisis.

Posted by Beverly Cheng / September 30, 2009

Anatolia Turkish Restaurant TorontoTurkish food is a novelty in these parts and Anatolia's owner, Ayse Aydemir, knows it. With a series of impossibly delicate yet rich phyllo-based dishes, intoxicating music and even a fortuneteller, my trip to this restaurant was nothing short of mesmerizing.

Posted by Beverly Cheng / September 11, 2009

Osteria Ciceri e Tria Restaurant TorontoBringing an authentic Southern Italian flair to the financial district, Osteria Ciceri e Tria is a modern take on the traditional Italian tavern. Chef Giovanna Alonzi's menu features assagini (small tastes) starters alongside a robust menu of fresh pastas, seafood and meat dishes, and it marks a swift departure from the typical Terroni fare.

A Most Decadent Adventure in a Chocolate Wonderland

Posted by Beverly Cheng / September 6, 2009

Moroco Chocolat Restaurant TorontoWhy do women choose chocolate over sex? I'm not quite sure. But at MoRoCo Chocolat in Yorkville they make chocolate sexy again, so my thinking is why choose when you can have both?

With over hundreds of sinful concoctions, ranging from handmade truffles, macarons, fondue, s'mores and delectable chocolate martinis, there are seemingly no limits to indulgence here.
