Posted by Amanda DiPasquale / July 18, 2010

Forget latte art, this new cafe makes fresh mini donuts

Posted by Amanda DiPasquale / July 5, 2010

Little Nicky'sMany coffee houses differentiate themselves with the freshness of their beans, the quality of their crema or the creativity of their baristas. But this new cafe at Queen and Peter ups the ante with the introduction of mini donuts ($4 for a dozen) - fresh and hot right off the conveyor belt.

Yeah, the Dutch know how to make ice cream too

Posted by Amanda DiPasquale / June 8, 2010

Ice CreamWhile it might be one of the better ice cream destinations in Toronto, this 30 year old shop at Vaughan Road and St. Clair definitely wins the prize for the most quirky. The small space - not for the claustrophobe - has kitsch to the max, a massive variety of sugared and flavoured cones and, yeah, pretty good ice cream too.

Marc Thuet better without the convicts

Posted by Amanda DiPasquale / June 2, 2010

Petite ThuetMarc Thuet and Biana Zorich might have fled town to Vancouver to film the upcoming season of Conviction Kitchen but that hasn't stopped them from rapidly expanding their mini empire of gourmet food stores. After a successful launch of the concept in Rosedale they now have four locations with the latest being on King East where Zoulpy's Deli used to be.

Happy DazeOpen for nearly five months, this subterranean cafe near Dundas West and Bellwoods has more than just java on the menu. The real draw here - for those looking for more than a jolt of caffeine - is the smokes. Yep, this is Toronto's newest hybrid smoke shop/cafe.

Yonge & Eglinton gets a little more French

La Boheme Cafe PatisserieOpen since March, this bakery shares the same chef as Jules Cafe Patisserie on Mount Pleasant. So it should come as no surprise that the baked creations on sale here are equally tasty and sinful, especially their tarts and croissants.
