New coffee shop might be Kensington's best

Posted by Adam Vrankulj / January 28, 2011

Cafe PamenarThere's no shortage of worthy spots in Kensington Market to grab a cuppa joe. But now a new cafe at the norther tip of Augusta has raised the bar - not only with its commitment to quality, but also its Guido Costantino designed space (he also did Buca and the new Fusaro's), which easily makes it the most visually striking place to take a coffee break.

Posted by Adam Vrankulj / January 14, 2011

Stumptown Coffee TorontoStumptown Coffee has somewhat of a cult following south of the border. And as of late last year, the beans can now be had at this hybrid furniture store/cafe concept inside the Burroughes Building just east of Queen and Bathurst.

Posted by Adam Vrankulj / January 7, 2011

Dark Horse 3Deanna Zunde and Ed Lynds know what they're doing with the whole coffee house thing. It opened this past Sunday.

Is this the beginning of Parkdale's migration to King?

Posted by Adam Vrankulj / December 13, 2010

Parkdale kingWhile there's always been some cheap food options on King west of Dufferin, the growth in Parkdale (in terms of bars, restaurants and retail) has largely been relegated to Queen. But changes might be afoot now that the latest indie coffee shop (from the same owners of the Lakeview) has opened near the quiet corner of King and Spencer.

Koreatown gets a coffee bar

Posted by Adam Vrankulj / December 4, 2010

Coffee PocketPreviously we broke the news that Sam James was about to open his second cafe next to Tacos El Asador in Koreatown. A week later the Mazzer grinder and La Marzocco G5 are in operation so I stopped by to see how the goods compared to his Harbord Street original.

A former Bulldog moves to College St.

Posted by Adam Vrankulj / December 1, 2010

The Slow RoomWith wicked coffee, outstanding sandwiches and lots of natural light, this tiny new cafe near College and Dovercourt packs one hell of a punch. On the menu are cheap lattes and porchetta sandwiches, both made by a former barista at Bulldog.
