Photos of the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

Posted by Staff / July 10, 2011

Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition 2011Taking place at Nathan Phillips Square this weekend, the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is the largest juried outdoor art show in Canada, featuring the work of roughly 500 artists. As is the case with any exhibition of this size — juried or not — the quality level of the work ranges quite significantly, but there are few better places to catch talented local artists at the outset of their careers. For the non-collector, the show also rewards casual browsing and offers a refreshing alternative to the gallery scene.

An earlier version of this post misidentified the TinType Studio booth with that of Bruce Turnbull's, which was located next-door. Apologies for the error.

Just got back from the Outdoor Art Exhibition. The smallest show I have seen in years. Diversity in artists' work was sadly missing.

I agree with the above comment. There were some wonderful artists but most of the artists were painters. Art is more than two dimensional.

I visited on Saturday and was disappointed as well. The majority of stuff there I just didn't get. I did love seeing Sean Galbraith's urban decay work though. I've been a fan of his for awhile and they really looked impressive in print. Too bad I can't afford anything he had. haha.
