Sarah Clifford-Rashotte is a large scale, mixed media artist who uses various techniques from painting, photo transfer and traditional drawing. She pairs with a variety of materials from pastels to pencil and simple markers. She's an OCAD alumn having completed her undergrad there before attaining an MFA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.
Clifford-Rashotte's inspiration comes from personal experiences and her interaction with arts and culture and the female persona. Her process involves a series of additions and deletions to her piece where she makes each mark matter and each piece of text intentionally placed.
While her work may seem spontaneous, Clifford-Rashotte methodically adds each layer and each reference on top of one another, meshing and blending until the messages ultimately cancel each other out to create a timeless work of art.
She is represented by LE Gallery in Toronto and she will also be featured in the Line Art Auction this December at the AGO.
