Romas Astrauskas
About the Artist
Not every artist is inspired by trash-strewn alleys and KFC parking lots, but then again not everyone is Romas Astrauskas. Operating out of a boiler room of a Georgian style-mansion near the Junction, the Parsons School of Design grad creates objects out of "anything he can get [his] grubby hands on."While he dabbles in painting, Astrauskas' recent work has featured sculptures and wood block prints. He's exhibited at Greener Pastures, Clint Roenisch and Jspace galleries and was recently included in Carte Blanche II, a compendium of contemporary Canadian painting.

My exhibition of new sculptures, "Plum + Trash Palace" is currently on display at Jspace (2013A Dundas St. W., 416 993 6642). There will be a closing reception on Sat. Dec 13 from 2-6 PM. Please feel free to pop by for a drink and a chat, would love to see you!
Romas' sculptures are really wonderful, and I have had the opportunity to see some of his paintings first hand, and I can honestly say that I feel he is one of the most talented artists out there. His stuff is still reasonable so my advice would be to snatch up some of his work while you can! Can't wait to see more!
Better than Barack Obama, Simpsons (OJ, Bart, Jessica), Dion, Harper, crisis of any sort, Drudge report, Freakonomics, CT angiograms, Slap Shot 3, Leafs, youtube, google, microsoft, Disney, Yahoo!, Facebook, dot-bombs, Charles in Charge, Chachi Sputnik, Flickr, bots of any kind. Almost as good as a balanced, yet flavourful red wine.
