Poster Child

About the Artist

Poster Child, as his name would suggest, loves posters. Given the opportunity to expand on his obsession he will and he did.

"The poster is perfect for me", explained Poster Child. "The poster is public. The poster is democratic, grassroots and DIY. The poster is independent and participatory and of no value. The poster is not a dead, embalmed, archival museum artifact. It is alive and vital! Given the chance, the poster ages beautifully before it dies- carrying the scars and tattoos of its life. The poster is a memento mori.  The poster is the triumph of the ephemeral and the bane of the sterile city."

Yet despite his love for posters, our masked artist does indulge in other art forms. Earlier this year Poster Child staged his first solo show at Hotshot where he filled the space with plush dolls outfitted in space suits marked with I Love NY slogans, skulls and superheros. (Video here)

More typical of his work is the stuff that can be seen -  if only for a fleeting second - around the city like his guerrilla gardening installations. He was also one of the artists featured in Urban Play.

Posterchild, I have always loved what you do with the resources you have around you, and even when they don't turn out the way you want them too, they still up looking great! :)

Technically.. not very good. Messages, mediocre at best.

But I'll check into your link for a sign of "actual" posters. Or maybe you meant Posterchild as in a hero, or mentor(?)
