Torontonians are probably most familiar with Dan Borins and Jennifer Marman's much photographed In Sit You installation that appeared in the Toronto Sculpture Garden back in 2006. The work, comprised of a kinetic board of colour stripes and a colourful city park bench, can be found all over Flickr as well as a number of local blogs.
Since its appearance, the talented duo has gone on to exhibit at Nuit Blanche, The National Gallery of Canada and Art Santa Fe. In 2008 they put together a solo show at Gallery TPW called Wha Happened? that featured photos, video and interactive sculptures inspired by pop imagery including ET, Yoda and Michael Jackson. The show was widely praised by local art critics including NOW Magazine's David Jager who called it a Dadaist stew tracing the fault lines and fissures in contemporary art.
In 2008, The Toronto Star called them out as one of the Ten to watch.
Working out of a studio space near Bloor and Lansdowne, the two OCAD grads are currently piecing together a show for the Art Gallery of York University that opens in late January and "involves a lot of concrete".
