About the Artist

Anna Pantchev is a recent OCAD graduate who works out of Walnut Studio just south of King Street West. Her main medium is painting and her body of work consists of these very intense, brightly coloured paintings which explore angles, geometric spaces and repetition which she creates in the process of collage and additive and subtractive methods.

Her work is inspired by the history of abstraction, contemporary culture, graphic design and illustrations. And what she hows to achieve with her work is a contemporary take on the history of abstraction. Unlike most artists, Pantchev's colour palette is very intense, which she feel is very important to her. It definitely adds a striking dynamic within the geometric figures in her pieces.

Pantchev recently completed a show this past September at Keep Six Contemporary and will be contributing a piece to the Line Art Auction this December at the AGO. In the future, she hopes to branch into installation and site specific work, creating a piece from found objects and building something, which may look like a object from one of her paintings.

So, besides the auction, where can one buy these pieces? (The one for auction isn't the one I'd like...)

oh, you know... on December 2, 2008 at 10:31 AM

You could probably contact her through her blog, linked at the top of this page.

Great work!

Image 3 is my favourite to look at but i wonder what these pieces really say? Or should they be saying anything?

Just curious.
