Todmorden Mills

The Papermill Theatre at Todmorden Mills

It's been almost a year since the Papermill Theatre opened on Pottery Road. But that didn't stop me from waiting until last week to make my inaugural visit. Set inside the historic Todmorden Mills, the theatre is currently hosting Remain in Light's production of Waiting for Godot.

Inside the main building of the restored paper mill, The Papermill Gallery has the feel of a small screening room. The seats are comfy, the projection equipment is state of the art, and the entire space is carved out of a series of beautiful post and beams.

It's the sort of space that's perfect for a smaller production, provided you can convince enough people to navigate the out of the way winding pavement that is Pottery Road. The theatre shares its space with an art gallery too which on some evenings provides the perfect backdrop for a pre or post-performance reception.
