6 anti-Valentine's Day events in Toronto for 2016

Anti-Valentine's Day events in Toronto cater to singles, bromantic partners and galentines (as well as a few not-so lovey-dovey couples). If you're not into marking the cheesiest holiday of the year with a date night, but still want to do more than cuddle with a pint of Ben & Jerry's, there's plenty going on around the city.

Here are a few alternative ways to celebrate Valentine's Day in Toronto.

Anti-Valentine's Ball (Feb. 13)
The Opera House is hosting an all-out fetish bash to celebrate anti-Valentines. Expect erotic visuals, rope bondage demos, body painting and more. There will also be dungeon play areas if you want to let your freak flag fly.

Thelma and Louise Galentine's Day Screening (Feb. 13)
Spend the 14th with the ultimate OTP: Thelma and Louise. If you haven't found the Jay-Z to your Beyonce, grab your best lady friend and head to Rainbow Cinemas to see Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis do their thing on the big screen.

Anti Valentine's Day Mixer 2016 (Feb. 14)
Valentine's Day is a source of rage for many. If it rubs you the wrong way, Battle Sports has got your back this year. The North York entertainment facility has planned an event for those that love to hate love, complete with a rage room filled with love-themed mugs and vases and archery with cupid targets.

Dark Love Valentine's Day Prix Fixe Dinner (Feb. 14)
Sure, you could make some Winterlicious resos and spend the evening dining between two lovestruck couples, but where's the fun in that? This prix fixe dinner at The Steady is for those who love food more than corny Hallmark swag. Aside from a kickass menu, you'll be treated to tarot readings and live, spooky music (which, in my opinion, is much better than a bouquet of roses, anyway).

Toronto Ladies Learning Code: Valentine's Day Edition (Feb. 14)
Opt out of singles parties and speed dating and get an education instead. Ladies Learning Code is hosting a Valentine's Day HTML & CSS course for all the women who prefer computing to cards and chocolate. Bringing along a galentine is highly encouraged.

Fleshgod Apocalypse (Feb. 14)
There's no better way to say "F you Valentine's Day" than by attending a death metal concert. Instead of kicking it to the smooth sounds of Miles Davis with a pretentious Tinder date, thrash your body around to Fleshgod Apocalypse, Carach Angren, Abigail Williams, and Sacrificed Alliance at the Mod Club.

What did I miss? Add where you'll be turning your nose up at Valentine's Day in the comments.
