Massive ping pong club set to open in Toronto

The wildly popular SPiN ping pong club, which has locations in New York, Hollywood, and Milwaukee, will soon be opening up shop in Toronto.

SPiN Toronto is slated for 461 King Street West right at King and Spadina. The 12,000 sq ft space will accommodate 12 to15 ping pong tables, a championship court, a private party room, change rooms, two licensed bars and a full food menu. It sounds like the Ballroom is about to get some sporting competition.

SPiN was first opened in New York by Andrew Gordon, Jonathan Bricklin, Franck Raharinosy, and Susan Sarandon (yes, that Susan Sarandon) in 2009. Ryan Fisher is the founder behind SPiN Toronto.

"Ping pong is great because it's so unpretentious," Fisher tells me. "Anyone can play, and it really works well to create community of people that have something in common. It's all about linking communities, that's why it worked so well in New York and why I think it will work well in Toronto."

SPiN Toronto is set to open its doors this summer.
