THEATRE | The Loyalists
Travel back in time to when Toronto was a little town called York and America is invading. The year is 1813 and war has broken out between the British and the Americans and The Loyalists brings the action to life in this historical reenactment happening in and around Fort York. A cast of actors leads the audience through the town of York, reconstructed by architect Jay Pooley and a team of artists, to recreate the invasion as it happened. The mission is simple: Meet at 520 Wellington Street West at the time listed on your ticket and be immersed in the drama of the War of 1812.

ART | Milk Show
Milk Glass Co. Gallery celebrates the opening of its new space with a little exhibit called Milk Show tonight. Milk glass, a white coloured opaque glass first made in Venice and which was highly popular in the 16th century, is used to create decorative art pieces for the home as well as jewelry. Inviting 13 artists to exhibit paintings and prints of milk glass themed pieces, Milk Glass Co. Gallery will showcase the delicacy and design of these collectible pieces at tonight's opening. The inaugural exhibit closes June 18th.

FILM | Toronto Japanese Film Festival
Contemporary Japanese cinema is celebrated at the inaugural launch of the Toronto Japanese Film Festival, opening tonight at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. Following an opening reception, the gala screening of Rebirth will take place, a 2011 drama based on the novel by Mitsuyo Kakuta about an abducted child who must come to terms with her kidnapping as an adult. A portion of the festival's proceeds will go to the cultural centre's Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. The festival runs until June 21st.

FUNDRAISER | Secret Garden
Strange creatures frolic about while enchanted guests dance and sip on luxurious cocktails. The Secret Garden opens its doors to an adventurous wonderland inside the Brick Works this evening. A fundraiser on behalf of the Sick Kids Foundation, Secret Garden will feature aerial performances, a Gentlemen's Lounge, fantastic food, a silent auction and raffle and a secret performer. VIP tickets ($275) are also available for a more exclusive evening, all going towards the Urgent Care Unit.

PHOTOGRAPHY | It's Medicinal
To legalize or not to legalize is the question. "It's Medicinal!" is Eugen Sakhnenko's answer. Exhibiting his photography series at Pari Nadimi Gallery, the Toronto photographer takes a look behind closed doors and the shaming aspects of marijuana use. Images of everyday spaces juxtaposed with grow rooms gives a sense of the negative consequences of prohibition. Opening tonight, Sakhnenko's work will be on display until June 28th.
