FILM | All Balls Don't Bounce—Sports Weekend
A documentary about the underdog, the man left in the shadows, Joe Frazier: When The Smoke Clears plays at the National Film Board's Mediatheque this afternoon. A free screening of the 2010 Mike Todd doc, this film tells the story of Muhammad Ali's rival Joe Frazier, who disappeared into the background of the heavyweight champion's legend only to become a forgotten legacy. Playing this afternoon as part of Sports Weekend at the Mediatheque, Joe Frazier is presented by All Balls Don't Bounce, a sports media content collective.

MUSIC | My Father and The Hunter Album Release Party
Toronto 7-piece The Strumbellas celebrate the release of their debut full-length album My Father and The Hunter tonight with a performance and party at The Rivoli. This folk alternative country band was conceived of in Lindsay, Ontario with their album coming to fruition in Toronto after music producer Cone McCaslin saw them perform at The Dakota Tavern. The melancholy My Father and The Hunter will be premiered this evening following sets by Hamilton Trading Co. and Graydon James and The Young Novelists. Doors open at 9PM.

THEATRE | Fleurette Africaine
Movement and dance combined with music and performance art aid Fleurette Africaine in telling the stories of nameless characters of African descent as they struggle, despair and feel joy in their personal relationships and lives. As part of TD's Now and Then series, a cultural showcase highlighting the multicultural and multiracial society of Toronto, the performance focuses on African heritage and its place in Canada, telling the gripping stories of Africa's people and their connection to this country. Various artistic mediums are incorporated into this show, which plays at the Lower Ossington Theatre tonight only.

Anyone who has ever been bothered on the TTC or heard the Ford brothers speak can relate to that gnawing thought in their mind — "STOP TALKING." White House Studios presents a performance art piece tonight that will echo this sentiment. 20 artists will perform from a variety of mediums engaging the audience and encouraging participation in this intimate show that is all about interacting with your fellow cityfolk. This pay-what-you-can show begins at 9PM and will be an unconventional night of performance art that is a hilarious, jarring, captivating and touching reminder of how we can all relate to one another.

FILM | Higher Learning: Ways of Seeing (In) African Cinema
Black History Month continues at the TIFF Bell Lightbox with a master class this evening that zones in on themes in African Cinema. Screening The Adventures of Mwansa the Great, Rungano Nyoni's short film about a young boy who turns his daily life in a village near a copper mine into an adventure, panelists will examine and discuss current trends in contemporary African filmmaking and culture. Co-Director of TIFF, Cameron Bailey, will host with U of T's Professor Kass Banning and Professor Marieme Lo joining Julie MacArthur of African Phantasms as panelists. The Higher Learning series is free and open to the public but tickets are distributed on a first come, first served basis.
