Radar: Reframe the Pap, Trampoline Hall, Laughable At Unlovable!, Renzo Martens' Episode III

PHOTOGRAPHY | Reframe the Pap: Photo Exhibit
Has the "pap" got a bad "rap?" Quite possibly. We know it's of the utmost important that women get tested regularly, given the high number of individuals diagnosed with cervical cancer every year in Canada, but it's understandable that many avoid what is clearly an intimidating procedure. This is precisely why doctor Sheila Wijayasinghe's "Reframe The Pap" photo exhibit, which goes down tonight at The Gladstone Hotel, is such a great idea! Wijayasinghe is aiming to give her audience a new context and identity for this procedure, in order to remove the 'anxiety factor' that might stop someone for being checked out on a regular basis. This really is an exhibit that could save lives.

CULTURE | Trampoline Hall: Mark Slutsky Curates!
Trampoline Hall is back, with it's inaugural 2012 event! This is the regular lecture/symposium that marries the seemingly mundane with the brilliant, and presents a handful of unique speakers sharing insight on subjects that seem silly on paper, and when presented, might just make you think! Or laugh hysterically. Mark Slutsky curates this evening's gathering, with presenters Mayana Slobodia discussing "Cargo Cults," Laura Perlmutter on "Pleasing Mama Olga," and Nadia Moss sharing some insight on "Worms."

COMEDY | Laughable At Unlovable! First show of Not 2011!
"Laughable At Unloveable" is a great comedy night at a great venue on Dundas West, and it will be starting 2012 with a bang! It's not often you can check out a comic of Sean Thompson's stature (Kids In The Hall) in a small club, but he's part of tonight's lineup! Also appearing are: Linda Ellis, Ron Sparks (The Newsdesk), Darryl Purvis (Comedy Now!), Zabrina Chevannes (Cream Of Comedy), Clifford Myers, and others. Hosting tonight are Steph Tolev and Nick Flanagan. This event also happens again on the 23rd, with a different lineup.
Unloveable (1415-B Dundas Street West) 8:30PM

FILM | Screening Renzo Martens, Episode III
A screening tonight of Dutch artist Renzo Martens' film, "Episode III - Enjoy Poverty," prior to his public speaking event tomorrow. This film essentially follows Martens in "gonzo jounalist" mode to various different regions, mainly in Africa (Kinshasa), convening with aid workers, media, and many citizens, emphasizing the plight of "poverty" in very unconventional ways. This 2008 film is actually the second part of a trilogy that began with Martens' "Episode I".
Hart House, South Sitting Room (7 Hart House Circle) 6PM
