Toronto talents Bedouin Soundclash and K-os join a strong line-up of musicians including Hamilton band Arkells, Brooklyn ambient rockers We Barbarians and locals The Dirty Mags for tonight's 102.1 The Edge holiday concert at Sound Academy. $1 from every concert ticket will go toward The Daily Bread Food Bank at this annual event that exclusively features local headliners. Non-perishable food items will also be collected for the food bank and donations are welcomed.

LITERATURE | ArtSync Book Launch
Want to know who's "it" on the Toronto art scene? The ArtSync book takes you across Queen Street and back with its pages of profiles on the artists that give the Toronto arts community its vibrant creativity. The book supports a range of profiles, in categories like women in comics, documentary filmmakers and graffiti artists. Join the launch by celebrating the book, the community and the holidays with drinks at Angell Gallery.

ART | One Less Paper Cup
How much thought goes into the design of a paper cup? The artists participating in the One Less Paper Cup fundraiser have put together a diverse range of designs for reusable coffee cups and will be auctioning them off in support of Grounds for Health, an organization that supports cervical cancer screening and awareness for women in the coffee producing communities of Mexico, Nicaragua and Tanzania. Taking place at Parkdale haunt The Mascot, the event will feature designs by 17 artists and the evening will be filled with drinks (including pay-what-you-can coffee) and music. The auction runs until midnight.

FILM | TIFF Nexus: Women in Film, Games and New Media Day
Spark creator Nora Young hosts this evening's TIFF Nexus and WIFT-T event designed specifically for women working in digital and new medias. Creative industry leaders from Site3 coLaboratory, CFC Media Lab, OCAD's Game Studies department and Metanet Software will join keynote speaker Leigh Alexander, a game culture journalist and editor for gaming site Gamasutra to discuss the future of women and emerging technologies.

FILM & PHOTOGRAPHY | Puppet Theatrical Release and Photo Exhibition
In the 2010 documentary directed by David Soll, Puppet examines puppetry in western culture as it moved from children's entertainment to a form of high art. Soll uses this historical timeline of puppetry to also tell the story of Dan Hurlin, a puppeteer and playwright who created Disfarmer, the puppetry show about the Depression era photographer Mike Disfarmer. The documentary will be screened at Carlton Cinema tonight in conjunction with a photography exhibit in the lobby of the cinema house of Disfarmer's portraits and photos from the making of the documentary.
