FUNDRAISER | Andy Kim Christmas Show
Tonight at The Phoenix, it's the 7th Annual Andy Kim Christmas Show! As always, Mr. Kim has a stellar lineup of guests helping all to get their holly-jolly on! Rush's Alex Lifeson, Ron Sexsmith, Sam Roberts, Buck 65, Sarah Harmer, Arkells, BSS's Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, and others will lend a musical hand onstage. This is a great annual charity event that strives for a "Variety show" vibe, including comedy from Sean Cullen. The event's proceeds will support various children's charities throughout the country.
The Phoenix Concert Theatre (410 Sherbourne Street) $26

FILM | Nordic Nights presents The Painting Sellers
Everyone loves a good 'road movie'. That type of journey/adventure is a seriously old-school format, but it works, and we can't help loving it. "The Painting Sellers" falls into this tradition, and even better: it takes place around Xmas time - kind of an added bonus right around now. Unlike "Easy Rider", this road flick takes place in Finnish territory, and it's a trio that we follow as they all become friends, and try sell some paintings to gather some cash to keep their vehicle running. This film was features at Cannes and won the Cannes Cinefondation award in 2010.
NFB Mediatheque (150 John Street) 7PM FREE

CULTURE | Past Present: Chagall Through Toronto's Artists
An exciting, multidisciplinary evening of Marc Chagall inspired work and performances. Sasha Luminsky, accordian-player extraordinaire, will transport you to a Euro cafe in a heartbeat with his beautiful sounds, and Kaeja D'Dance ensemble will deliver some "contemporary choreography", plus a film screening. There's more: Euro-fusion ensemble The Thing Is will play a rousing set of music, and we will be treated to a premiere excerpt from "Bella: The Colour Of Love", a performance piece written by Theresa Tovah and Matt Herskowitz.
Art Gallery of Ontario (317 Dundas Street West) 7:30PM $22.50

BOOKS & LIT | Quattro Books Presents "WordStage"
Quattro Press, a diverse and dynamic young Toronto book publisher that prides itself on championing "the Other" in today's literary scene, will be hosting "Wordstage" a December reading event at Dooney's Cafe in the Annex. Tonight's event is "novella night", and several Quattro novella writers will be in top form, ready to share some great words with you. Koom Kankesan, Carole Giangrande, Paul Seesequasis and Binnie Brennan will be our featured readers, and the Quattro Christmas party follows, so be sure to stick around afterwards!
