FASHION | Higher Learning: Master Class with Monique Prudhomme
Academy Award-nominated costume designer Monique Prudhomme has created the costumes for films like The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Juno and Stephen King's It. Joining the Higher Learning lecture series at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, Prudhomme will give a two-hour lecture tonight, sharing her work and knowledge while fielding questions from attendees. Tickets to this free event are first come, first served as always, available at the Lightbox box office.

FILM | aluCine Toronto Latin Film Festival
Today marks the beginning of the 12th aluCine Toronto Latin Film & Media Arts Festival, a cinema-centered celebration of Latin films, videos, installations and performances, which takes place in the Roncesvalles neighbourhood over the course of four days. Beginning with the performance piece Tired of Counting at Coffee and All That Jazz (72 Howard Park Avenue), the festival will connect Latin artists' work and experiences to a Toronto audience, forcing them to think on immigration, heritage and cultural differences. The festival closes Saturday.

If you enjoyed our story about bootlegger John Paul Rademuller, tonight's fourth installment of the Uncertain Futures, Imperfect Pasts: An Interactive History Salon series at Spadina Museum may spark your interest. Focusing on prohibition and bootlegging in Toronto's past, the museum will host lecturers Mariana Valverde of U of T Centre of Criminology and Kathy Klas of the Alcohol and Gambling Commission of Ontario to examine how liquor laws have changed and how unique they are to the rest of the world.
