ART | Show Off @ The Junction
Call it Nuit Blanche with retail flare: Twenty local artists and designers will use 12 retail shops in the Junction neighbourhood to display installations that will showcase the retailers and the products they offer. The artists will include collectives like archiTEXT and Nivek Remas as well as independent artists like Joanna Ferraro and Amanda McCavour taking over the spaces of SMASH, Pandemonium, Eclectic Revival and others on the Dundas West strip. A street party will take place on Friday the 21st at 7PM but the collaborations between artists and Junction shop owners will remain on display until the 30th.

LITERATURE | Michele Landsberg's "Writing The Revolution" Launch With Naomi Klein
Writer and feminist icon Michele Landsberg releases her book about her experiences in writing for The Toronto Star for 25 years tonight. Writer Naomi Klein and councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam will introduce "Writing The Revolution" before an interview with former CBC host Avi Lewis. Landsberg will reflect on her work and discuss the past thirty-five years of the women's movement in Canada. The book is a compilation of the controversial activist's best work for The Star, where she wrote the Canadian news from a feminist perspective.

FILM | Secret Movie Hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos
There's only one secret that is being revealed at the Lightbox's free screening tonight and that's that George Stroumboulopoulos is hosting the event. While there is little to say about a movie that will not be announced until moments before the curtain drops except for the fact that this is the first public screening of the new film, TIFF is guaranteeing that you have definitely heard of the movie and you're probably a really big fan of the director and screenwriter, who will be in attendance. It's free, it's new and it's a big name project: Sounds worth the risk to us!

LITERATURE | "Jewish People, Yiddish Nation": Book Launch and Musical Performance
Professor Kalman Weiser's book about journalist and politician Noah Prylucki, a champion of Yiddishism, will be released tonight with a book launch and musical performance at the Gladstone Hotel. "Jewish People, Yiddish Nation: Noah Prylucki and the Folkists in Poland" details the rise of Prylucki's political party The Folkists, who based their principles on that of Yiddishism, and their fall from power post-WWI. Emphasizing the obscurity of the cultural movement of which Prylucki's contributions were incomparable, Weiser will discuss his book, read passages and engage in a Q&A. Following Weiser's words, Yiddish music interpreters Marilyn Lerner and David Wall will perform.
