MUSIC | Portishead at the Sound Academy
Portishead plays the second of their two-show run at The Sound Academy tonight. This will be the group's first time in TO in almost a decade and a half! Portishead brought the 'trip hop' genre to the mainstream with their 1994 release "Dummy", a dark and retro sound made up of loops with a vintage flavour, evoking '60s and '70s film soundtracks and delicate vocals courtesy of Beth Gibbons. This year has seen the band back on the road in a substantial way for the first time a while. TO is lucky to be one of less than a dozen stops on their North American tour.
Sound Academy (11 Polson Street) 7PM $59.59 - $99.50

THEATRE | Ghosts
The Soulpepper production of Henrik Ibsen's "Ghosts" begins its run at Young Centre for the Performing Arts tonight. This Ibsen classic deals with morality, and the darker side of human nature. The disparity between our words, our desires and our actions, is the focus of this 1882 drama. Soulpepper is a theatre company that has been quality stage productions in TO since 1998.
Young Centre for the Performing Arts (55 Mill Street, #49) $65

HOLIDAY | Thanksgiving Dinner Boat Cruise
Family dinners on special occasions like Thanksgiving are lots of fun, but they can also be a lot of work! If you can outsource some of that prep work, and post-cleanup why not do it? Tonight you can do the dinner thing on the water! Juiblee Queen Cruises is hosting an awesome Thanksgiving Dinner Boat Cruise! It's the family dinner experience with added scenery and waterfront ambiance! There will be a DJ keeping the festive vibe going with great music, a smorgasbord of a Thanksgiving buffet, and cruise time both before and after dinner. All aboard!
Marina Quay West (539 Queens Quay West) 5:30PM $59.95

GAMES | Thanksgiving Scrabble in the City
Nothing beats chilling in the Annex, and this afternoon the weekly Scrabble In The City event at Kilgour's is off to an early start. Whether you prefer your spellings American or Canadian, or haven't decided until you've checked out your tiles - this is where you'll want to hang. Kilgour's Bar Meets Grill has a great, very relaxed vibe, great service, and great food. You might even win a prize if you can incorporate the best Thanksgiving word into your game.
Kilgour's Bar Meets Grill (509 Bloor Street West) 4PM FREE
