Radar: Nurses, Dominant Legs & Young Mother, The Photography of Benoit Pepin, Viktor's Mitic's "Rain Dance," Step by Step, Wooden Sky

MUSIC | Nurses + Dominant Legs, Young Mother
An interesting triple-bill at The Drake tonight! Portland psych-outfit, Nurses will play their special enigmatic brand of pop tunes. There's is a special, highly flexible zone in the "psych" genre where Syd Barrett-like lyrical sensibilities, a dreamy atmospheric direction, and a highly eclectic palette of sounds all comes together. They are joined tonight by Dominant Legs, who are also not quite walking the straight and narrow, either, but are definitely working in a poppier mindset. Locals Young Mother will open the show, and will fit right in quite nicely, as they know how to get a "far out" musical party started!
The Drake Hotel (Queen Street West) 8PM $13

PHOTOGRAPHY | NDY 2011: TA YEULE! The Photography of Benoit Pepin
Live music photography is a special thing. Photographer Benoit Pepin isn't dealing with just any music, either! Hardcore and punk shows can make a photographer feel as though their subject matter is crossing over into a chaotic sporting event, and Benoit is known to throw himself fully into the action. Tonight at Hits And Misses, you can witness the sweat and the many adrenaline-fueled moments caught by Pepin's lens over the years at this special exhibit that runs until October 23rd.
