ART | 36th Beach Studio Tour
Art galleries and studios in the Beaches will open their doors tonight for the 36th semi-annual Beach Studio Tour. An event that began in 1994, the tour leads the public through 14 homes and studios where Canadian artworks are displayed. Don't expect the typical Canadiana paintings and sculpture though--artists will have jewelry, handbags, clothing, photography, ceramics and textiles to show off in addition to the more traditional art forms. Each studio will give away a free piece of work donated by the artist and will serve refreshments. Look for the yellow signs and banners on Queen East and Kingston Road between Woodbine and Victoria Park!

FILM | Ekran 2011: Toronto Polish Film Festival
Polish filmmaking, arts and culture will once again be at the forefront in the Roncesvalles community as Ekran, Toronto's Polish film festival, returns for its 3rd annual run. Tonight's opening gala film screening will feature the 2011 Ryszard Brylski film Wonderful Summer followed by an opening reception at the Roncy St. Gallery (394 Roncesvalles Avenue). The festival runs until Sunday and features the works of other visiting Polish filmmakers like Piotr Uzarowicz (The Officer's Wife) and Michal Mroz (Zgrzyt).

ART | Drugs and Unicorns Art Show
Popular Internet artist Lora Zombie is taking her work off the web and putting it out into the Canadian art scene. In her first solo show Drugs and Unicorns, Russian native and self-taught artist continues the study of pop culture and grunge art that gained her recognition. Expect to see Zombie's signature use of unicorns, pandas, monkeys, superheroes and paint splats in a style that has been influenced by street artist Banksy and comic book artist Jamie Hewlett. This is a one-night only event.

FILM | Reel Asian Film Festival Celebration Screening: Night Market Hero
The countdown is on to the Reel Asian Film Festival! To get cinemagoers warmed up for the six days in November dedicated to Asian filmmaking, festival organizers will host a free screening tonight at U of T's Innis Town Hall. Tien-Lun Yeh's 2011 hit Taiwanese film Night Market Hero is a comedy about a night market food vendor who is called to protect his livelihood and community when developers try to buy their land to build on. The film will play in anticipation of the festival, which begins November 8th.

THEATRE | The Rats in the Walls
American horror writer H. P. Lovecraft's short story The Rats in the Walls has been adapted for the stage just in time for Halloween. Performed north of the city at the lovely historic Black Creek Pioneer Village, the 1923 story is about a man gone mad when he learns about the secret history of his ancestor's lives in the underground city they inhabited. 'Tis the season for this kind of disturbing piece of theatre that will take place in Samuel Stong's historic 1855 home in Pioneer Village. Two shows will be performed tonight and on October 28th before closing.
