This afternoon's in-store performance at Sonic Boom will be awesome on two different levels! The obvious one is musical - an intimate set by Julie Doiron is a reason to celebrate, but so is the fact that this will be the first show at the new Sonic Boom location in Kensington Market! As for Julie Doiron, there's no doubt this seasoned singer-songwriter can deliver an amazing show. Its been a journey for this former bassist for Eric's Trip, with a substantial body of her own work, and interesting collabs along the way with Gord Downie and others. You are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Fort York Food Bank.

MUSIC | TWM: Chang-A-Lang, The Polymorphines, The Weirdies, Ultimatemost High
A killer lineup at Rancho tonight! Tonight's headliner, Chang-A-Lang, have the goods to be on every iPod in town: they write tight, catchy, intelligent poppy tunes with edge for miles! Also on the bill are the raw and slightly retro Polymorphines, and the aggressive "he said/she said" vibe of The Weirdies. Opening the evening is the "savage garage rock 'n' roll" of The Ultimatemost High. This could easily be the heaviest Rancho showcase yet!

FILM | Cast and Crew Screening of Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy
This afternoon you have the opportunity to attend the cast and crew screening of the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh's "Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance". This novel was Welsh's most successful since "Trainspotting", and early theatrical adaptations of "Ecstasy" (begun in Alberta) were quite a hit! Billed as a "transformational love story", this will be a great opportunity to catch this film at a great venue. There is limited seating, so do arrive early.

FUNDRAISER | GIVE Concert benefiting Yonge Street Mission's Evergreen Centre for Street Youth
Tonight you can check out some great bands, while supporting a great cause. Local music makers Ejay, Arlene Paculan, Elephant Harvest and The Muso Project will play at the Silver Dollar, with all door proceeds going to The Evergreen Centre For Street Youth. This centre is part of the Yonge Street Mission, and is an environment designed to aid, assist and support street youth, aged 16 to 24, providing shelter, meals, computer access, and much more.

ART | Wavelength & Wavelengths at TIFF: Aberration of Light
An audio-visual collaboration of the highest order goes down tonight at the AGO! Sandra Gibson and Luis Recoder are known for their "light experiments", combining the techniques and tools of light projection with various objects such as prisms, film, and other classics to create a dynamic, morphing, and "live" light installation. Musician Olivia Block has collaborated with these two before, and will add the dimension of sound to this performance, entitled "Aberration of Light: Dark Chamber Disclosure".

CULTURE | Toronto Vegetarian Food Festival
This annual event is a must-attend for vegetarians, and all of those curious about vegetarian and vegan culture. The festival has been in full swing since Friday, and today is the final day, with cooking demonstrations, musical performances, lectures and talks, films, a marketplace, and of course food to try, buy, and enjoy! This afternoon, you can check out a few interesting cooking demonstrations, including making your own raw ice-cream, catch performances by Larra Skye and Susan Wylde, take in presentations on animal compassion by Erika Ritter and Nadia Masoudi, and much more!

FESTIVAL | Taste Of The Kingsway
The stretch of Bloor West people call "The Kingsway" will be celebrating its annual street festival this weekend! There will be plenty of food, as you might expect, with around 200 exhibitors, plus that outdoor fun you love like rides, face painting, a beer garden, fitness demonstrations, musical performances, and more. Even a dog show, and an NHL autograph signing are promised! It's a great excuse to get out to Toronto's lovely West end, and enjoy some time outdoors.

FILM | Toronto International Film Festival
The Toronto International Film Festival is upon us again. This 11-day extravaganza has put Toronto on the map in the international film world, and there's always a buzz in the city about celeb sightings, and the like. The festival began Thursday, and runs until the end of next weekend. Today the screenings begin as early as 9AM - a nice way to start your day.
