Radar: Japanese Literature Today, Funniest Stand Up Newcomers of All Time, Trampoline Hall, F.A.M.E Tour at the Molson Amphitheatre, Elvis Monday

LITERATURE | Japanese Literature Today
Japanese literature and poetry has fascinated Western minds for many years. Come to York U campus this afternoon and find out why! There will be some interesting readings of Japanese literature in both Japanese, translated into English. Commentary and insight will be provided by four of Japan's most prominent literary minds: haiku poet Minoru Ozawa, as well as novelists Hideo Furukawa and Hiromi Kawakami, and translator/essayist Motoyuki Shibata.
York University (Harry Crowe Room 109 Atkinson 4700 Keele Street) 12:30PM

COMEDY | The Funniest Stand Up Newcomers Of All Time (of This Year)
Stand up comedy can be like food - you need it fresh. Established comics are great, you know what you're getting will be quality, but there's nothing like the first time you lock into a new comic's style, and they have you in stitches! That's what makes tonight's showcase at The Comedy Bar so awesome - it's five comics who were nominated for the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Stand-up Newcomer, so you get the best of both worlds: fresh and quality! Mark Forward is hosting, and this lineup of Eric Andrews, Rhiannon Archer, D.J. Demers, Dylan Gott, and Matt Carte is ready to show you what they can do.
Comedy Bar (945 Bloor Street West) 9PM $10

CULTURE | Trampoline Hall
The Garrison hosts another installment of Trampoline Hall this evening! This well-attended lecture-meets-'spectacle'-meets-"happening," is always full of surprises! A lineup of "non-expert" guest lecturers, unique to each event, will enlighten you on unusual, and eccentric subject matter, that nearly always borders on the ridiculous. Tonight, Sheila Heti curates, and David Heti will talk about "indecisiveness", Myera Waese will fill you in on being a "yenta," and Adina Goldman will give you the skinny on Yiddish proverbs. Laughs and the occasional epiphany are almost guaranteed!
The Garrison (1197 Dundas Street West) 8PM $5-6

MUSIC | The F.A.M.E Tour at the Molson Amphitheatre
The F.A.M.E. Tour is Chris Brown's brainchild, to support his latest release "F.A.M.E.", his fourth studio album. The tour is in keeping with Brown's reputation for delivering memorable live shows with all of the "trimmings". The tour worked out any and all kinks in Australia, which made up the first leg back in April, and is now North America-ready. The supporting acts are pretty happening, too: Tyga, Kelly Rowland, and T-Pain.
Molson Amphitheatre Molson Canadian Amphitheatre (909 Lake Shore Boulevard West) 6PM $23.75 - $85.75
