Radar: Artfest at the Distillery, Batman Returns, Hot and Spicy Food Festival, Hispanic Fiesta 2011, Hop Fu Meets Infinite Kung Fu

ART | Artfest at the Distillery
The Distillery District will transform into an outdoor European art gallery this long weekend! Drawing in daytime crowds to observe the sculptures, paintings, photography and installations of talented Ontario and Quebec artists, Artfest at the Distillery will feature live music for entertainment and food vendors will be scattered across the cobblestone streets. The event runs all weekend until Monday from 11AM to 6PM.

FILM & THEATRE | Batman Returns: The Shadowcast
Cinema and theatre lovers will see two great arts combined at tonight's shadowcast performance and screening of Tim Burton's Batman Returns. The film will play in the background while performers use props, dance, miming and other theatrical techniques to recreate the action onscreen. There will only be four exclusive shows after tonight's innovative premiere of the only shadowcasting performance of Burton's 1992 film. Tickets will be available at the door.

FOOD | Hot and Spicy Food Festival
Wondering where your foodie friends are this weekend? Try the Harbourfront Centre's 14th edition of the Hot and Spicy Food Festival, where professional chefs and food experts like Jamie Kennedy, Sasha Chapman, Donna Dooher and John Ellison will gather for cooking demos and panel discussions. A Red Hot Market will be open to sample and purchase spices, hot sauces and fiery marinades but the highlight of the festival will be the numerous chef competitions that will crown the hottest chefs in the city. The festival runs until Sunday evening and has a packed schedule of events for attendees of all ages.

CULTURE | Hispanic Fiesta 2011
Hispanic Fiesta is back in Toronto for its 30th year and ready to take over Mel Lastman Square! Opening tonight with traditional Latin bands and international orchestras, this cultural celebration will explore the music, folklore, food and dance of over 20 Spanish-speaking countries like Mexico, Peru and Colombia. Workshops will engage children in making traditional puppets and clowns while adults are free to dance and eat international fare. Whether you speak the language or not, come out and enjoy the celebration!

LITERATURE | Hop Fu Meets Infinite Kung Fu
Toronto illustrator Kagan McLeod celebrates the release of his brand new 464-page graphic novel Infinite Kung Fu tonight with a Q&A session hosted by journalist and comic book artist Chip Zdarsky at Revival Bar. Following the discussion with the author, McLeod will sign books and then host a party featuring Hop Fu, the New York City scratch duo DJ 1XL and DJ Excess. Entrance to the party is $5 but free with a purchase of the book.
