CULTURE | Pilaros Taste of the Danforth
Taste of the Danforth returns for its 17th year to celebrate Greek culture (but more importantly Greek food). Toronto's largest and favourite food festival will close down the streets of Greektown for the weekend and invite food retailers out onto Danforth Avenue to sell their eats to the 1.2 million people who are expected to attend this year's event to watch performances, play games and sample dishes. Come equipped with stretchy pants because with the Danforth claiming the highest concentration of restaurants per kilometer in the world, gluttony is to be expected.

FESTIVAL | Toronto's Festival of Beer
Brewski lovers get ready because Toronto's other favourite festival will be waiting for you at the end of a long workday. Toronto's Festival of Beer begins tonight and will celebrate our national beverage by housing 120 brands on the exhibition grounds for ticketholders to sample, guzzle and chug. Canadian electropop band Dragonette will perform tonight and the Trews will make an appearance on Sunday to get the tipsy crowds dancing. This will be the best place to get some real southern BBQ and a nice cold one (or 20) this summer weekend, so be sure to get tickets quickly before they sell out.

MUSIC | Sloan
In celebration of 2000s week at Ontario Place's 40th Anniversary Celebration, Canadian rockers Sloan will perform a free concert at Echo Beach. The Halifax natives will play songs from their 20th anniversary album, The Double Cross, which came out earlier this year. Sloan will hit the stage at 9:30PM tonight following opening acts Modern Superstitions and hip pop band Whale Tooth.

NEIGHBOURHOOD | Junction Design Crawl
The independent design studios of the Junction Triangle neighbourhood will open their doors tonight to show what their little corner of the city has to offer. Apart from art and design exhibits that will be free to enter, there will be food stands, mini-markets and even a small carnival in Narwhal Art Projects' back courtyard (2988 Dundas Street West). Other venues participating in this doors open event include Mjolk, Russet & Empire, Magic Pony and Smash. Explore this upcoming neighbourhood and all that it has to offer at this one night event.

FILM | Movie Night in the Square
Maple Leaf Square will transform into an outdoor movie theatre tonight with a screening of the 2011 Shakespeare adapted cartoon Gnomeo and Juliet. James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Michael Caine, Ozzy Osbourne and Patrick Stewart all contribute their voices to this Kelly Asbury directed cartoon about gnomes from the warring Montague and Capulet gardens. Real Sports Bar and Grill will be selling food and drinks on the street at this family-friendly event so just show up with a chair for a real movie experience!
