FILM | Red State: An Evening with Kevin Smith
Tonight, the Toronto premiere of Kevin Smith's new feature, "Red State" will be screened in all its 35mm glory (which looks way better than anything playing off a hard drive, by the way). Smith is a favourite film maker with "Clerks", "Chasing Amy", and many other classics on his CV. Smith's new film, "Red State" is a scary tale of crazy religious fundamentalists and their clash with a group of teens and society at large in a small rural town. Smith will be in attendance at this screening tonight, and there will be a Q & A that should be awesome.

MUSIC | Sete Star Sept with Cages, Death Agonies, Disleksick
A crazy bill tonight at The Shop Under Parts and Labour! The headliner, Tokyo's Sete Start Sept, delivers hardcore punk in a way that's true to the old school: it sounds like you could be listening to something coming out of Cali in the early '80s!... Kind of. This also holds true for Disleksick, but you can tell that they're a bit more new school with some post-metal influence at work. Cages are in a unique zone on this bill, in that they are edgy, but far more "arty" than the rest. It should be an interesting mix. Death Agonies will also lay it down tonight. That's a lot of badass energy for eight bucks!

FILM | From Page to Screen Film Festival
Tonight, the Toronto Film Society's "From Page To Screen" series continues, with a suspenseful and dark double feature. First up is "The Lost Moment" from 1947, based on Henry James' "The Aspern Papers". This film tells the tale of a shady publisher's quest for some lost letters written by a well-known poet, and the psychological effects this has on the ladies who hold the poet's belongings. Our second feature is "Raffles", directed by George Fitzmaurice, and starring Kay Francis. This film is based on the E W Hornung novel, and tells the story of a jewel thief who, despite being in love, is lured into the famous 'one last job' scenario. This will be a nail-biting double-bill, indeed!

COMEDY | Laughable at Unlovable!
Unlovable is going to make Monday a little easier to bear, with "Laughable At Unloveable", a weekly comedy showcase. Nick Flanagan and Steph Tolev will be putting this together each Monday, and tonight a big lineup of comics awaits you, including: Daryl Orr, David Dineen-Porter, Desiree Lavoy, and Gavin Stephens. If you don't believe that laughter is the best medicine, perhaps the promised "free pinball" will clinch it for you.
