CULTURE | Fortune Cooking Food Festival
Pan-Asian culture is this weekend's theme at the Harbourfront Centre. The events kick off tonight with an open food market, SPiN TO ping-pong competition, cooking contests and a demonstration of the art of teppenyaki with Chef Michael Tan of Benihana. The evening will close with a screening of Rice Rhapsody, the directorial debut of Chinese-Canadian filmmaker Kenneth Bi, which follows the action inside a Singaporean family restaurant. The events will continue throughout the weekend with an Iron Chef competition as well as many other activities and performances.

MUSIC | Ruby Coast and Miracle Fortress
Ruby Coast--alumni from Humble Empire's Live Near Bellwoods music program — perform this evening at the Lower Ossington with Polaris Prize nominee Miracle Fortress. The Aurora indie pop band will play music from their 2011 debut album Whatever This Is (available for free download on their Bandcamp page) while Montreal's Miracle Fortress (a.k.a. music producer Graham Van Pelt) will play his sophomore album Was I the Wave? for the SummerWorks music series crowd. This event is a great chance to see up-and-coming Canadian talent and will continue until the end of the SummerWorks festival.
The Lower Ossington Theater (100A Ossington Avenue) 10PM $10

FESTIVAL | York-Eglinton International Street Festival
Cultural representation is the aim of the York-Eglinton International Street Festival, which will give Torontonians a full international experience this weekend. From Japanese drumming groups to Hindi music to Latin cuisine, this event wants to give every cultural group a platform to positively highlight their differences. Expect international foods along with buskers performing heritage music as well as art and fashion shows, a large sidewalk sale and even street golf. With Eglinton closed between Marlee and Dufferin all weekend, the streets will be yours to enjoy (sorry, drivers).
Eglinton Avenue West (between Marlee and Dufferin) 10AM Free

FILM | Movie Night in the Square
Forget the drive-in theatre this summer because Maple Leaf Square is hosting free Friday films outdoors. Smack dab in the middle of the city, tonight you can watch the Twilight series 2010 film Eclipse on the big screen outside the ACC. Expect lots of screaming teenage girls as this movie stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner along with Kristen Stewart. As always, food and drinks from Real Sports will be available to the audience but be sure to provide your own chairs and blankets.
Maple Leaf Square (15 York Street) 8PM Free

ART | Sound Travels Concert: Places for our ears to go...
As the 13th annual Sound Travels: Festival of Sound Art continues, non-profit organization NAISA (New Adventures in Sound Art) will host Places for our ears to go... A special concert event that features the sound works of Jonty Harrison of the Toronto Electroacoustic Symposium and sound artists David Berezan and Nick Storring, audiences will be entertained by a sonic yet cinematic experience of music, sound effects and storytelling that achieves the festival's goal of presenting experimental sound art to teach new perspectives. Open your ears to a new art!
