MUSIC | Brighter Brightest CD Release Party
Toronto pop punk band Brighter Brightest releases their debut full-length album Right for Me and will be hosting a live performance in celebration tonight at Sneaky Dee's. The band's journey in recording the album is a topic on the new MuchMusic series Discovered, which follows Canadian musicians as they prepare for their breakout opportunities. The release party will be punctuated with performances by more of the brighter and brightest young Canadian acts such as Winnipeg pop rockers Take Me to the Pilot and local pop musician Prince Caspian. The future is bright and full of bands, booze and lots of nachos.
Sneaky Dee's (431 College Street) 6:30PM $10

MUSIC | Def Leppard
Metalheads, tonight is your chance to go deaf to the sounds of iconic heavy metal band Def Leppard. The British band hit the road this summer on tour and this evening they roll into Toronto touting three new tracks from their 2011 live album Mirrorball. Playing the music that made them the band they are, Def Leppard will be accompanied by openers with loads of classic material of their own, Seattle folk rockers Heart. Tickets have yet to sell out to this rare performance by two legendary bands so jump on it!
Molson Canadian Amphitheatre (909 Lake Shore Boulevard West) 7:30PM $33.50+

THEATRE | Come Fly Away
Come Fly Away tells the tale of four couples who fall in--and out--of love at a New York City swing dancing nightclub to the sounds of Frank Sinatra's music. Choreographed by dancer Twyla Tharp and performed by professional dancers with a live 14-piece big band, the play premiered on Broadway in 2010 and is currently on a North American tour. Opening tonight at the Four Seasons Centre, Come Fly Away runs until August 28th.
Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts (145 Queen Street West) 7:30PM $53+

FILM | Little Terrors Short Film Event Vol. 2
Consider your night terrors returned with the second volume of Little Terrors Short Film Event happening tonight at The Projection Booth. This evening's roster includes 9 short films about monsters, strange worlds and a Christmas gone horribly deadly in Treevenge, directed by Jason Eisener of Hobo With A Shotgun fame. As always, there will be a Q&A session to follow the screenings with some of the filmmakers in attendance.
