MUSIC | Thomas Dybdahl at The Drake
Already known as the Norwegian Jeff Buckley across Europe, Thomas Dybdahl is just making his solo career debut in North America with his current tour. The 32-year-old folk rock artist from Sandnes, Norway performs at the Drake tonight, introducing his latest album Songs to Canadian audiences. Once the guitarist of Norwegian pop rock band Quadraphonics, Dybdahl will be a force to reckon with once his hypnotic melodies make their debut on the folk rock scene.

FILM | Paris, Je T'aime
Toronto is for lovers and the ongoing Harbourfront Centre outdoor summer series has set out to prove this with the evening's film. The 2006 ensemble film Paris, Je T'aime will be on the big screen tonight at the lakefront venue for a romantic mid-week date night. The film features 18 short films by 22 directors, a list which includes the likes of The Coen Brothers, Sylvain Chomet and Gus Van Sant, with one topic at the root of each story: Love. A part of the Cities of Love series that created the 2008 sister film New York, I Love You, Paris, Je T'aime compiles the films into an overarching story that all takes place in the arrondissements of Paris amongst a stellar cast of actors such as Gena Rowlands, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Juliette Binoche. Take note of the earlier start time this week before you head down to the waterfront for the most romantic night in the city this summer.

FOOD | Zaa Zaa Pizza Party 2011

Can pizza be art? Toronto artist David FM Hanes thinks it can be and is hosting the 3rd annual Zaa Zaa Pizza Party tonight to show off his pizza art-making skills. With 40 artists participating in the event by pre-selecting toppings, Hanes will handcraft each individual pizza while attendees are invited to view a showcase of art pieces that prove the relevance of pizzatic art in our culture. For those who appreciate pizza, art and art about pizza, swing by Butcher Gallery tonight for an all-you-can-eat pie fest.

ART | Beaches Jazz Festival Concert Photography Workshop
Concert photography is a skilled artform that requires the ability to catch an emotive, moving subject and expert Igor Vidyashev wants to teach Toronto photographers how to achieve this goal. Vidyashev is a professional concert photographer whose works have appeared on artists' album covers and in magazines in his 40 years of experience. This evening's free workshop with the award-winning photographer will cover a variety of topics, including equipment recommendations, editing, publicity and achieving an artful look in photos. The event is affiliated with the Beaches Jazz Festival, which means a discussion of various types of concerts and venues will play a large role in the workshop. All levels of shutterbugs are welcome!

THEATRE | Marat/Sade
A Canadian twist on Peter Weiss' 1963 Tony Award-winning musical, Marat/Sade opens at the Alumnae Theatre tonight. A German story about asylum inmate Marquis de Sade, who writes a play about the assassination of French Revolution leader Jean-Paul Marat and creates havoc in the institution, director Sarah Thorpe has placed this well-known play in one of Canada's great institutions: McGill University. Set in 1957, during the McGill psychological torture scandal that was part of CIA mind control experiments, Thorpe's interpretation is a fresh effort of the Brechtian drama that is based in historical fact. The play runs until July 24th with daily performances.
