Radar: Up The Yangtze, Authors at Harbourfront Centre, Stranger Than Fiction

FILM | Free Favourites at Four presents: "Up the Yangtze"
Chinese-Canadian director Yung Chang's 2007 documentary, "Up The Yangtze" screens tonight as part of NFB Mediatheque's weekly "Free Favourites at Four" series. This multi award-winning film's focus is the current transition in China's rural areas from an agricultural, localized 'subsistence' economy to an industrialized capitalistic economy, and way of life. The film follows two separate young people who work in the 'modern' sector of Chinese society, and relates their struggles and encounters.
