MUSIC | Bob Dylan 70th Birthday Tribute
If you can believe it, Bob Dylan turns 70 today and in honour of the rebel folk rock legend, the 11th annual birthday tribute concert will be held tonight at the Drake Underground. Toronto folk singer and songwriter Shawn Clarke is hosting the event that sees local indie folk artists, including Dave Borins and Andrea Ramolo, perform the music of Dylan's catalogue. This Toronto tribute series began in 2001 to celebrate the 60th birthday of the icon and has grown to become a nationwide heartfelt tribute to the revolutionary musician.
The Drake Hotel Underground (1150 Queen Street West) 8:30PM $7

LITERATURE | BookThug 2011 Spring BookLaunch
For the thugs who like books and those that like to engage in some light hegemony disruption, BookThug seeks to give a voice to their stories in their publications. BookThug creates a platform for innovative emerging writers to engage in experimental literature that challenges, yet reaches, the mainstream market. Celebrating the confluence of experimental literature and intellect, the BookThug series launches at Supermarket tonight. Book releases from Clelia Scala, Jake Kennedy, Alessandro Porco and Aisha Sasha John will be celebrated this evening with a possibly thuggish and prominent surprise guest in attendance.
Supermarket (268 Augusta Avenue) 7:30PM Free

FUNDRAISER | Paradigm Shift Project Fundraiser
The Paradigm Shift Project aims to link donors with those in need of resources through documentary filmmaking. A charity started by Rebecca Sweetman shortly after witnessing the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami in Sumatra, this female-staffed organization is hosting a fundraiser party tonight at the Gladstone. PSP seeks to raise money this evening for documentary work to bring awareness to grassroots solutions that will support the end of sexual slavery in South and Southeast Asia.
The Gladstone Hotel Melody Bar (1214 Queen Street West) $15

MUSIC | The Songbook 5
Under the artistic direction of Andrew Burashko, the acclaimed Art of Time Ensemble joins Sarah Slean onstage tonight at the Harbourfront Centre. A performance that will weave the contemporary music of Pickering native Slean with classical accompaniment, it will also include a mix of the vocalist's personal favourites, including covers by Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Bjรถrk.
Harbourfront Centre's Enwave Theatre (231 Queens Quay West) 8PM $25-$59
