CULTURE | "Dirty, Drunk, and Punk" Book Launch
For some, it may be hard to remember when punk was still a largely underground movement, but that was very much the case in TO back in the '80s and earlier. At that time, the hardcore band Bunchoffuckinggoofs (aka. BFG) presided regally over the scene in this city, especially offstage! Their headquarters in Kensington Market were the stuff of legends: stories of brawls, parties, beds located inside of large cages, reptiles... and more that might not be suitable for print (well, except in Morton's new book!)! It's a wonderful thing that music maven Jennifer Morton has taken on the task of chronicling this crazy slice of Toronto counterculture history in her new book, "Dirty, Drunk, and Punk". The book launches tonight at The Garrison, where Morton will interview BFG "Alpha male" Crazy Steve, and some musical performance will follow.

MUSIC | Mary Anne Hobbs
Mary Anne Hobbs hits TO tonight as part of her "Road Warrior Tour"! Hobbs is a music 'lifer', from her early days living with English rockers Heretic and writing for NME, to her long career at the BBC, where she has championed different electronic genres, especially Dubstep. She has also put together numerous successful and groundbreaking compilations, and curated several UK Dubstep showcases at the Sonar Festival in Spain. She will be joined tonight by openers The Killabits, Zed's Dead, and Bassmentality. Come and check some cutting edge sounds!

FILM | Free Favourites at Four: The Strangest Dream
In addition to recounting the history of nuclear weapons, this film follows the story of Joseph Rotblat, who was part of the Manhattan Project in NYC back in the 1940s, contributing to the development of the first Atomic Bomb. Rotblat left the project on "moral grounds", and went on to found and champion the Peace Movement, eventually receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.

COMEDY | Toronto's Indie Comedy Hour
Toronto's Indie Comedy Hour provides an alternative to the big comedy clubs and the open mics that are almost an afterthought for many venues in the city. These guys put together their showcases with care, and a love for the art of 'stand up'! Featured comics tonight are: Bob Kerr, Becky Bays, Amber H-Y, and Evan Desmarais, with musical guest Ely Henry.
