THEATRE | The Penelopiad
Directed by Rosanna Saracino, The Penelopiad is a witty and modern take on the intriguing myth of Odysseus and Penelope. This isn't your typical Greek tragedy or musical for that matter, but rather a combination of both. This is the perfect cultural infusion your Tuesday night is looking for. The Penelopiad opens tonight and runs until April 2.

COMMUNITY | Ashita: Artists for Japan
Curator Rafi Ghanaghounian and Artist Daisuke Takeya have rallied the support of Toronto's arts community for a fundraiser to aid Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims. Along with being a good cause, there's going to some great music - courtesy of Owen Pallet and other local bands - and lots of art for sale. All in all it sounds like the ideal evening.
The Great Hall (1087 Queen St. W), 7pm-2am, minimum $10 donation ($5 for students).

FILM | Raindance Toronto Presents: Live!Ammunition!
Every year up-and-coming independent filmmakers take over the stage to battle it out in a test of ingenuity and creativity. Live!Ammunition! is a chance for each one of these budding artists to pitch their one-of-a-kind film story idea to a panel of industry judges. This is the place to be to hear some fascinating ideas unravel, while sipping libations with gurus of the film industry.

SCIENCE FICTION | Robert J. Sawyer
Wake and Watch, the first two novels from science fiction author Robert J. Sawyer made huge waves in not just the science fiction arena but in the world of Canadian literature as well. Sawyer has been coined "the dean of Canadian science fiction" by the Ottawa Citizen and his newest book, Wonder is sure to be just as monumental and exciting as the first two. Come celebrate with the author himself at the launch event tonight, presented by Bakka Phoenix Books and Penguin Canada.

TEXTILE | Silk Oasis on the Silk Road: Bukhara
The region of Bukhara is known around the world for its rich history in beautiful, embroidered fabrics and textiles and the Textile Museum of Canada wants to share this unique exhibit with the city of Toronto. Not only will beauty surround you but this is a chance to learn about this area's history through the stunning craftsmanship of these pieces. The exhibit opens tonight and will be a permanent fixture at the museum through until September.

HERITAGE | Fort York, a Presentation by Stephen Otto
Known as a captivating storyteller, author and distinguished historian, Stephen Otto enlightens the audience at Riverdale Library tonight with his insight and knowledge of Fort York. This isn't your run-of-the-mill presentation; this will be a thoughtful talk by one of "the city's leading advocates for the preservation of Toronto's built and documentary heritage." If you are at all interested in protecting our city's history - and who wouldn't you be - this is the event for you.
